Sadly many people in South Dunedin, Caversham and Mosgiel were flooded very badly last month. We luckily had a flap valve that after our plumbing genius, Jim the Plumber arrived, was put back in action to help sort our water woes. He also came up with the great solution for the pipes in our bathroom (which let us down badly 10 years ago in the last big flood to hit us in Caversham). He disconnected the loo in our downstairs bathroom, and placed a PLUG in the hole (see above), which meant that any stray waste water that would have tried to come up the pipe was kept firmly below the surface – THANK GOODNESS! It is something we plan to buy and have at the ready for the next time we have a 100 year event! The last flood was awful, and put us out of action for over 3 months, so we sympathise with you all going through difficult times, as we know just how disruptive and difficult it can be.

We were pleased to be able to suggest to Iain Campbell from Ritchies who drove the bus to bring the Highlanders fans from Forsyth Barr to our Physio Pool Fundraising Dance that all users of the bus could donate to the flood victims, and hopefully that was a good amount raised by you all on the night, and am sure will be greatly appreciated by the recipients.
