The Cadbury Dunedin Marathon ran very smoothly last month, thanks to the amazing effort of an enormous number of volunteers from the Caversham Harrier and Athletics club. It was great to see all the Tuesday walkers and runners who participated on the day did so well – and we were very proud to be able to display the ODT liftout with all placings of current and previous patients and training groups highlighted with their very impressive times.

It is such a good event, so if you have never done it, do think about next year’s event – you will undoubtedly enjoy it and it is a great motivator to keep fit over winter. Many thanks too to Mary Vincent and the walking crew for making my Tuesdays evenings such fun, and also to Peter Hughes and the running crew who joined Geoffrey – you all did so well with huge progress over the 3months, enjoying lots of laughs and learning throughout. Thanks to Caversham Harriers too for welcoming everyone to join in the Club events on the weekends – it’s been great, and nice for our groups to realise the Club welcomes everyone – all abilities are catered for on runs or walks.

If you have not tried a running/walking club, do check out the ODT Thursday sports draws, as you will find all the details for all the various clubs there. The walkers are carrying on with Tuesdays at 5.30 from the clinic, so do join if you are keen. The runners are joining Club midweek runs, held each Monday and Wednesday from the Cannington Rd end of John McGlashan at 5.45pm. They happily cater for all running abilities, so don’t be shy.
